Wale asbestos-free ceramic glassworking tapes are made from high purity refractory fibers with a melting point of 3200° F. It can be cut with ordinary scissors and formed into complex shapes. It can be folded, wrapped, rolled and goes around sharp corners. Strong, free standing shapes can be produced.
Applications are based on the outstanding temperature stability and uniformity, low specific heat, low thermal conductivity, resistance to thermal shock, good dielectric strength and excellent corrosion resistance. Applications including cushioning holders, insulation, supports - will not mar glass. Wale ceramic paper tapes also find applications in the laboratory as high temperature filters (passing gases or liquids for mixing), construction and repair of high temperature equipment, etc.
